ÅAC Microtec presents ground-breaking products at international defense show

ÅAC Microtec is presenting its new family of RTU products at the Eurosatory 2010 International Defense Week in Paris June 14-18.

At Eurosatory 2010 ÅAC Microtec introduces its new family of remote terminal units (RTUs) on the European market. This new line of RTUs enables rapid reconfiguration and deployment of interoperable systems and subsystems for unmanned vehicles such as satellites, UAVs and UGVs.

Among other things, ÅAC launches a new control computer called nanoRTUTM, The RTU products are developed in close cooperation with US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV). They are designed according to the new American Space Plug-and-Play Avionics (SPA) standard, which focuses on interoperability and rapid response. Practically no development time is required to deploy new systems built with components utilizing the SPA standard.

“The introduction of our RTU family on the European market is an important milestone for ÅAC Microtec. It’s very satisfying to be able to make this outstanding technology, developed in cooperation with the US Air Force Research Laboratory, available to European customers. Our cooperation with AFRL continues and will lead to new innovative solutions in the future,” says Mats Magnell, CEO of ÅAC Microtec.

ÅAC Microtec is a Swedish company that is world-leading in miniaturization and packaging of electronics. ÅAC products are designed to withstand the toughest environments and due to their small size they can be placed in locations where other electronics cannot be used. For example, sensors can be used in smart ammunition, UAVs, UGVs, satellites, engines, etc. ÅAC is currently running a project together with Volvo Aero, aimed at setting up a sensor network for monitoring the interior of the RM12 fighter jet engine.
